WEBINAR

More than nine million Americans identify themselves as members of the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) community. The workplace rights afforded to LGBTQ employees are complex. On the federal level, the Trump administration and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission have provided conflicting interpretations as to whether the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects gay and transgender employees. The Supreme Court will wade into the controversy later this year. California offers expansive protections for LGBTQ employees, but there is considerable confusion as to how these state laws are to be applied in the workplace.

This session covers the most recent legal developments in this critical area. Moving beyond the law, we will look at some specific needs of LGBTQ employees, and review historical discriminatory practices and their ongoing effect on the LGBTQ community. We will consider best practices to ensure that your organization is both legally compliant and taking appropriate steps to maintain a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Join us for a comprehensive webinar addressing critical topics in this area, including:

• Understanding the current state of federal protections for LGBTQ workers
• Applying California state and local protections to the workplace
• Developing a greater understanding of historical discriminatory practices and the impact of such discrimination on the LGBTQ community
• Ensuring that your organization is compliant with legal requirements
• Developing best practices to protect the rights of LGBTQ employees
