They’re at it again! On January 1, 2024, California’s paid sick leave requirements changed. If you haven’t already done so, you will need to update your policies.
In this webinar, Melissa Whitehead explains the new “Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act” rules, including accrual rates and caps, how to track the time, and how to integrate mandatory paid sick leave with your other leave policies. Melissa also will provide practical guidance on modifying your policies and training your employees to ensure you comply with the new law.
As always, there will be plenty of time for questions.

This session meets the mandatory ethics training requirement for California-based local public agency officials and staff who are required to file Statements of Economic Interest (Form 700). Through interactive dialogue and case studies, attendees will learn about general ethicslaws and principles, the difference between ethics and values, and laws governing personal financial interests, the acceptance of perks, and the need for transparency and fair process in decision-making.
We also will discuss how California law governs officials’ personal financial interests, including under the Political Reform Act and Government Code section 1090, the legal restrictions on gifts, travel, loans, political mailings, and the misuse of public funds, and how the Brown Act and the California Public Records Act require transparency in public agency operations.

The California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”) gives employees the right to know what personal information your business collects in connection with their employment. And, employers are obligated to provide certain notices associated with that right, including a notice at collection and a privacy policy. Yet, the CPRA regulations provide almost no guidance regarding how to do this in the employment context. In this targeted CPRA training, Julia Melnicoe Insel will drill down into the key differences between the notice at collection and privacy policy, and give you concrete information and tips to help you draft them in compliance with the law.
