California’s healthcare minimum wage will finally take effect on October 16. Under last year’s SB 525, the minimum wage was increased for almost all healthcare workers. Due to budgetary concerns, the law’s implementation was delayed. The new law gradually phases in pay increases over several years, beginning with raising wages to $21/hour and up to $23/hour for employees in certain healthcare settings and eventually raising pay to $25 an hour (adjusted for inflation).
Covered healthcare employers must comply with the following notice requirements by October 16:
- Post the California Minimum Wage Supplement for Covered Health Care Employees in the workplace.
- Provide notice to employees in the language normally used to communicate employment-related information with employees of the new minimum wage schedule.
