Time to Get Back to Basics!

by Jennifer Shaw | | July 2, 2021

For more than a year, employers have struggled to keep up with their COVID-19 obligations. The laws kept changing, and we all did our best to adapt. Now that the pace of employment law developments has slowed down a bit, it’s time to get back to basics.

Here’s a quick list of some things to think about:

    • Ensure your COVID-19 Prevention Program is up-to-date
    • Audit your wage-hour and other HR practices (with counsel’s input, of course, to keep the findings confidential!)
    • Review your EEO training and complaint processes
    • Update your job descriptions and duty statements to reflect any changes during COVID-19
    • Implement appropriate telework agreements for remote workers
    • Review your workplace violence prevention program
    • Review your performance management process
    • Does your workplace culture need a tweak or two?

The California Legislature is already voting on new laws for 2022. Stay tuned for those developments.

Also, be sure and register for one of our annual update sessions here. This will be our 22nd year of providing public and private sector employers with practical information and insights about their new obligations. The feedback we receive on these sessions is pretty extra-ordinary. Here are a just a few comments we received from attendees at the 2020 session:

    • This was my fist webinar with Jen and it was so informative. Thank you so much. I am looking forward to more.
    • Thank you ALL at Shaw Law group! Couldn’t have gone through this awful time without your help!! Enjoy every webinar from beginning to end.
    • I always learn something new from you and I have been in the business over 25 years. Thank you!!
