J.R. Riddell is an outgoing communicator experienced in conducting complex and sensitive investigation work. As an Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Certificate Holder, J.R.’s practice focuses on conducting impartial workplace investigations for employers in the public and private sectors.
An accomplished interviewer with more than 20 years of legal experience conducting investigations and representing clients in litigation, J.R. cultivated his ability to build rapport with interviewees through hundreds of interviews, depositions, and witness examinations. His years of experience enable him to competently and proficiently piece together differing accounts of events, evaluate key documents, and render clear factual findings.
In addition to conducting impartial investigations, J.R. has tried cases to judgment and earned numerous litigation accolades, including recognition for a nationally ranked top defense verdict. His litigation perspective helps him recognize and appreciate the role nuanced facts can play in litigation, and the need to account for corroborating and contradictory evidence in reaching reasoned and impartial conclusions.
Before joining Shaw Law Group, J.R. practiced law at a global law firm where his most recent engagements focused on gender and race-based discrimination claims. He also has served as a Deputy District Attorney and an officer in the United States Air Force.
On the weekends you can find J.R.: Taking unpaved road adventures into the Sierras, fixing up his old Land Rover, sailing, and enjoying time with his family.
